The absent blogger

I have been pretty bad about blogging lately. We have been a little busy and truth be told i was lacking in motivation.

Kendall is now walking. Yay!!! She went from not wanting to walk at all Saturday to not wanting to stop Sunday. Monday she didn't really care for it too much. But last night she was walking so much she worked up a sweat. Then when i took her into daycare this morning she gets down and starts crawling around. She is a little particular who she walking to. But once she gets going its hard to stop her and she gets SOOOO excited about it.

I am getting a little nervous for our CA trip in a few weeks. I am flying with Kendall by myself while the rest of my family and Jason fly down the next day. It shouldn't be to hard. My biggest fear is that she is going to get antzy sitting on my lap and start screaming while we are on the plane. I am sure all the other passengers would love that. Chances are though that she will be so distracted by all the unfamiliar faces that she will just stare at everyone. My other worry about it is, we fly in the middle of the day around lunch time and nap time. I will have to pack lots of snacks and then once i get through security in Missoula i am somehow going to have to find somewhere to get milk for her. It is going to be an adventure. We will survive but towards the end of the day i am sure we are both going to be a little frazzled and overwhelmed.

I don't know what it is lately, it could be the weather or that its getting close to the end of winter and I am getting cabin fever but i have been unmotivated lately. I do the same thing everyday in the same order and it's getting a little boring. We all go through slumps and I am sure as soon as something changes i will be gung ho about everything.

On a happy note. I received my tax return a couple weeks ago and was able to pay off 2 credit cards, a loan and buy myself new tires for my car. I also got to do a little shopping and buy myself some new things. They are all things I would have been paying forever if i didn't pay them off in 1 lump sum and I am glad I no longer have to worry about them anymore. I also wont be getting stuck going up any snowy hills with the fancy $700 tires i got (just in time for us to have another snow storm today, good thing spring is just around the corner).

Have a happy Wednesday!!!

Crying it out.....again

Over the course of the weekend Kendall didn't sleep past 6am and was up multiple times every night. However, this morning she woke up at 4:45am seems just a little early to me. It feels like I have an infant again.
This may sound harsh but she is so stubborn and such a manipulator and she knows what to do in order to get a bottle in the middle of the night. She has been waking up several times a night and she starts whining until progressivly it turns into crying. I admit it's my fault for giving in and giving her the bottle but only because its the middle of the night and i just want to go back to sleep.
This morning after our early start while i was laying in bed listen to her cry and scream at me for ignoring her, i decided it was time, yet again, to let her cry it out. It is really hard to let her do it since she shares a room with me and she can stand up and see me from her crib and she just screams at me cause i am ignoring her. I think for the next few nights i will be sleeping on the couch with headphones in so i can't hear her. It makes it a little easier not being in the same room.
The last time i had to have her cry was 2 hours long and I eventually gave up and gave her the bottle. It gets very frustrating when night after night she does this. She is tired and crabby, I am tired and crabby and it's just not a lot of fun for either of us. Hopefully it works this time, or it looks like i may have to move back into the spare room for a while to get her back on a good sleeping schedule.....again.

1 Year Check Up

Yesterday I took Kendall to the Doctor for her 1 year appt. Usually they make you wait forever so this time i came prepared with snacks, drinks and anything possible to would keep her entertained. It is torture trying to entertain a cranky baby who doesn't understand why we are just sitting here doing nothing when she wants to be out and about doing what she does. Luckily our wait yesterday was only about a half hour and it went fast cause she was busy playing (usually the wait is around 45 min to an hour) I don't know why at this particular Doctor office they cant ever seem to be on time. It gets very irritating when every single time you are there you have to wait that long. I made an appt for 3pm i want to be seen at 3pm. Why tell us to get there early if you know you are running behind? I don't get it. She had to get 3 shots which she really didn't like and tried to get away. Her 1 year stats are :

27 Lbs (she is my little chubby baby)

30 Inches tall

Days away from walking on her own

Doesn't eat any baby food anymore

Will not eat food unless she can feed it to herself or its off a fork

Loves Mexican food and fruit

Drinks milk now instead of formula

Will not stop talking, she is a chatterbox from the time she wakes up until she goes to bed

She likes to share

Peek-a-boo is one of her favorite games

Has a serious attitude

Loves car rides

Still likes baths but really likes taking showers

Her favorite thing to say is Gupa (which i think is Grandpa)

Can say Mama, Dada, Gupa, Gama, Bebe (for baby) and Dah (for dog)

Waves Bye and tries to shut the door

Looks exactly like her dad did when he was a baby, same expression and everything!

She has her own personality and thinks she is funny, we are enjoying all of our time with her. She couldn't be more perfect!

Thank you cards

While I was a kid growing up I always hated that my mom made is write thank you cards whenever we got something from someone. For birthday, holidays or any other occasion. I have since gotten over that hatred of writing them, I may not get them out in a timely fashion but i still try my hardest to get them done. Now since I have to write twice as many since Kendall doesn't know how to write yet. I have written so many since she has been born and even before that from my baby shower.
I have dropped the ball a little bit, I haven't had a chance to write any from her birthday a week and a half ago. I don't know what it is this time, but every time i remember to do them i am at work and once i get home i am playing or cooking dinner that i can never remember to do them. Once Kendall goes to bed its usually when i try to relax and by then the thought has been completely lost.
I wanted to try something different this time and make a thank you card with a picture of her from her birthday, it seems a little easier then handwriting 16 thank you cards. I feel bad i haven't sent them out yet, now since i have posted about it , maybe i will remember to write them tonight.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Ice Cream

The day after her birthday, my dad asked if he could take Kendall to get her first ice cream cone. Of course i said yes, so that evening we ventured out to our local Dairy Queen.

I don't think you can tell at all that she likes it, she could hardly take her eyes off it to take a picture.

It took her a little while to get the hang of holding it and my mom fed most of it to her. But once she got a hold of it she started eating it and crunching on the cone.
She had a really good time and really enjoyed the ice cream.
Baby cones are only 35 cents so i think we will be making this adventure more often. Especially once summer comes and she can sit outside in the grass and enjoy the warm weather.

Birthday Girl

Sounds like I have been getting a little repetitive with these last few posts. But today is the big day, Kendall has finally turned 1!!!!! It has been an amazing year. I love watching he grow and learn new things. If you ask her where someone is she looks around until she finds them. She loves playing with the dogs, she will lay with them and pet them, but she does also pull their hair. Her and the cat have a love/hate relationship. Kendall loves the cat, the cat doesn't really like Kendall.

She has gotten to be a picky eater, and changes her mind all the time with what she wants. One day she will love something, the next she hates it. She does not like to be fed with a spoon, she wants to do it herself.

When I change her diaper or get her dressed you have to sing the itsy bitsy spider or she tries to get away. She can even partially do the motions.

At daycare they teach them sign language. The only one she knows is more and uses it when we are eating dinner. She will do the sign and say "mo"

She still loves bath time, and has fun playing in the water and splashing.

The things she can say and recognize are Mama, Dada, Dah (for dog), Ga-pa and Ga-ma.

We all love her a lot and couldn't imagine life without her, she truly is a little blessing.

Pretty Pretty Girl

Here is the picture of her birthday outfit. It ended up being a little big so i had to clip it in the back and every time she crawled, the front would pull down and the clip would come undone.

She had a really great time despite being sick ALL week. She was a little whiny before everyone one got there but i knew as soon as there was a few people there she would be happy. She has always liked being around large groups of people. We had a really good time and i am glad she did too. It is very hard to believe she will be 1 tomorrow.

The Party Was A Success

Are you ready for some pictures?

I made Kendalls birthday cake and make a swirl flower design with the frosting

Here is the finished product with sprinkles on top

Here is the cupcake/cake platter

Here are all the decorations and food.

The highchair with balloons and gift table (she did get more presents, this is before people were there)

Kendall and he friends Nate and Titus

Digging into her cake, she loved it

She managed to eat almost all the frosting and just play with the cake. Her face didn't get to messy but her hands, arms and dress

Opening presents. She loved pulling all the paper off.

She got lots of good stuff

I will have to post her dress pic in a separate post. For some reason it does not want to be added to this one.

Sick birthday girl

We have had a sick baby almost all week. I knew she wasn't feeling well and new there was a good possibility the school would call and i would have to go pick her up.

Of course it happened on Tuesday, the day i didn't have a car cause Jason dropped me off at work and was tinting my windows. I got the call about the middle of the afternoon so then i am freaking out calling Jason and he isn't answering. He finally did and came and got me like 10 minutes later and here we are driving around with 1 window finished on my car, it was pretty sweet.

The rest of Tuesday she seemed OK other then having a fever, Wednesday she still had the fever and was whiny but OK. Wednesday night was a whole different story, she woke up from her nap with a temp of 104 and nothing would make her happy. I gave her medicine and tried some bottle and she just wasn't having it, all she wanted to do was rest. We sat in the rocking chair and just rocked and she was so sick, it was really sad. Her whole little body was red from having such a high temperature. We contemplated calling the ER to see what they said but we didn't. By about 2am her fever had gone down significantly. Thursday she was still warm but you could tell she felt much better. I took her into the Dr and she has a possible ear infection. They gave us antibiotics and said if the fever doesn't go away by today (Friday) then start giving them to her.

So far this morning she is still a little warm but not near as bad. She still doesn't want to eat. She is at the sitter today so i could come to work and hopefully by the time i go get her this afternoon she will be back to normal, she does after all have a party to attend tomorrow.
