Tis' the season of softball

A couple weeks ago we had our first softball softball tournament. It was a mens and corec tournament. Even though we have been practicing a lot the last couple of months, we did not do great. I think it threw people off that we were playing in mens and corec and that is the first time we have ever done both, so no one was solely focused on one thing. Our mens team is playing again this weekend. Hopefully they are more prepared now and will do better.

A 6:30am selfie :) The ONLY downside to having softball almost every weekend literally means i never get to sleep in. Most games start at 9am and when we are playing or travelling a majority of the weekends we have to leave the house by 7am. If we have to drive more then a couple of hours we will usually drive up the night before and camp for the weekend.

Kendall came with us on Saturday. Usually it is just her any maybe one other kid so she usually entertains herself with the toys and stuff i bring her. This last tournament though, we had probably 10 kids there with our team alone. She had a blast playing all day long. They went to the playground, ran, played in the dirt, went on walks. Kendall was exhausted but still played all day.

Finally about 4 that afternoon she just couldn't take it anymore and wanted to sit in the stroller with  her blanket. We went on a little walk and she passed out. Last year and the year before i always used to make her take a nap and i would walk her around in the stroller until she fell asleep. This year i told myself it would be harder to get her to nap there because she would be playing and we don't have the big stroller anymore. This is the first time when we were there that she actually wanted to take a nap, so i let her.

The design of this tournament was not planned well. It is still pretty early in the year here and they had the last scheduled game at 7:40pm which was way to late and go figure it was one we ended up having to play in. After being out on the field in the dusk for some time (there are no lights on these fields) we decided to forfeit the game, it was way to dark and it just wasn't safe for anyone and they had no intentions of calling the game. When you can't see the ball coming until it hits the ground, its just not safe to be out on the field anymore.

Meet our new baby

Jason and I had decided a while ago that when we got our house that we would get another dog. We looked and looked and found a lot. But we were being pretty picky as to what we wanted because Kash is such an awesome dog that we wanted to find one that could learn from him.

It took me a couple months of actively looking. I looked basically every day i could on craigslist, Facebook pages, in newspapers all across the state, animal rescues and humane societies and just couldn't find what we were looking for.

We specifically wanted another pit bull. Last week I had kind of given up hope after i had found several and Jason would say no not that one. I decided to just get on craigslist and look one more time and if i couldn't find anything then i would just wait. Well turns out i found exactly what we were looking for and i contacted the people right away. Just so happens that they had 5 male puppies left and that he was travelling to Missoula this weekend. He sent me pictures of all the puppies and once Jason and I looked at them all we decided on this little guy.

The anticipation of waiting to pick him up was crazy! I have never had my own puppy before. We have always had dogs but usually have gotten them from the shelter. He is literally like my little fur baby. We kept it a secret from Kendall, I wanted it to be a surprise from her (plus if i told her it would have been all she talked about for days).

Saturday finally came, i was really excited and could hardly wait. We loaded up in the car and met the guy and i showed Kendall and she said "Mom this is the best surprise ever!!!"

She just wanted to cuddle and sit with him on the way home but he was pretty whiny so I got to cuddle him and he eventually fell asleep.

Kash did go with us when we picked him up, mainly cause Kash goes pretty much everywhere with us, but also so they could meet and they loved each other right away.

His name is Kabo (like Cabo) and he fits right in. For some reason though and it may be because she is small and wears bright colors but whenever Kendall is around him he just chews and jumps on her like crazy. We are trying to work on it with him but he is only 7 weeks old so he will grow out of it.

She did manage to get some cuddles in last night while he was tired and she really liked that. He does sleep with Kash every night and usually only gets up about once in the middle of the night to be let out. Potty training has been pretty good. We just watch him and make sure that we take him out a lot. He has had very few accidents in the house.

Happy Tuesday!

M.I.A. for no reason

So I have been MIA for quite some time and i really don't have a reason. Just didn't have much to write about and have been fairly busy getting the new house in order. We are loving our home by the way, it is perfect for us.

Kendall has been a busy little bee. She got her first bike and is learning to ride it. Unfortunately it has been pretty chilly this whole last week so she hasn't got to go out much and ride. This week is supposed to be way nicer so she should get lots of riding time in.

She came and visited me at work the other day. She loves going that. She got to talk to Grandpa on the phone even though his office is literally just 5 ft away, she likes to call and talk to him.

She got to go swimming again, which was a blast. Jason had to work so i took her and came armed with a couple floaties this time. We had to test out her life jacket to make sure she fit in it for when she goes camping and boating over memorial weekend.

And the best part of all of this (aside from finally having our own home), we got a puppy!!! He is so adorable and we love him. More on him tomorrow. I have 3 posts planned out for this week so far and hoping that i will be able to get a couple more things put together so make a whole week of blogging.

Happy Monday!

New House Adjustments

Things have just been a complete whirlwind since last Thursday. I officially bought my first house. I literally had been trying to buy this house for a year. It was such a long frustrating process. But in the end it was so worth it.

There was no keys to the house, but apparently the back doorknob was broken so i literally had to break into my house to unlock the doors so i could switch out the knobs and get all new locks on the house. Thursday night Jason's covered the flooring and his mom started painting the ceilings. Friday is when the work began. I took the day off and so did his mom and we both literally painted all day long. We pretty much got the whole inside of the house painted. Saturday morning we went and did the final challenge workout (we got 3rd place) and then we went and started doing some final touches on the paint.

After the painting was finished we pulled up all the plastic off the floors (there are really nice wood floors throughout the whole house, not an inch of carpet anywhere) and my mom came over and we started cleaning. It wasn't that the house was dirty from the prior occupants, but it was vacant the last 2 years so it was just dirty and needed a good scrubbing from top to bottom.

Sunday I finished up cleaning the kitchen and we moved everything in. Got the beds set up so we could stay there that night. Monday and Tuesday we got pretty much everything put away. Its still a mess cause there is random stuff things that don't have a home yet. But they will find their spots eventually after i go to Home depot this weekend and buy shelving for the closets.

Kendall is having a little bit of a hard time adjusting. Evenings have been a little hard, but her routine has been disrupted cause we have just been trying to get everything unpacked and put together. Our TV isn't hooked up yet so she has been watching movies and playing in her room and doesn't want to stop when it is bed time nor does she want to fall asleep. Its been a battle but over time she will adjust and we will start to get back into a routine.

Tonight we are having friends over to dye Easter eggs so i hope by keeping her TV off and her mind occupied with the activity it will help her.

As soon as everything is put together i will be posting pictures.

Dentist & Some much anticipated good news!

This girl loved the dentist! I was putting off taking her again because her first experience just wasn't that good. It was a year ago and it wasn't really a kid friendly environment but it was the only place in town that would do toddlers and take our insurance.

There is a couple children's only dentists in Missoula which is an hour away. So I decided to make the appointment because i had heard great things about it. It definitely did not disappoint. They had fun decorations and games that kids could play while they waited, and we literally were only in the waiting room 5 minutes before it was her turn.

The chairs were kid sized so she crawled right up in it and it didn't intimidate her by being so big. They have TVs on the ceiling so she got to pick out a movie and wear headphones. She really didn't pay that much attention to the movie.

The dental assistant she had was awesome, she explained everything to Kendall and showed her exactly what she was going to do and that helped so much. She was a little nervous but stuck it out and eventually relaxed.

The Dentist came in and counted her teeth with a mirror which she was pretty excited about. And when he was all done she sang him a song. This child is definitely not shy anymore.

They have rewards system, and she got 3 punches on a special card because she was so good.
When its all filled up she gets to spin a wheel and pick a prize.

The part I liked the best was how comfortable they made her feel. Nothing was forced on her and if she needed a break they let her take one. The whole appointment maybe took 20 minutes from start to finish. I was very impressed with the staff and the facility. We definitely will be going back for future visits. It was well worth the hour drive. Plus a couple days later she got a thank you letter in the mail from them with extra stickers in it, which totally made her day.

Are you ready for the news?????? This girl officially bought a house and i couldn't be happier! I went in and signed paperwork! It is mine to do whatever i want with, woohoo!

Art project

So i got this great idea that i wanted to do for Kendall's room. In my head it seemed so easy and was going to look awesome. I bought all the supplies, for $20, so not to expensive of a project.

I quickly learned that chevron stripes suck. After my first row i had to pour myself a glass of wine and decided that instead of doing 5 i was only going to do 3.

After i got the whole thing taped i realized i had a problem with my pencil stripes. you cant really erase it off the canvas without it leaving marks. I figured this was just my test one and left it, since i had 5 canvas's and i only needed 3 i would just paint this one and see how it turned out.

It was going to be pink and bright blue. All the colors of  paint i bought match her bedding that she got for her birthday. Well turns out i had horrible brush marks and the paint bled through under the tape.

After this i officially decided that i am changing my idea and going a different route then chevron stripes. The new idea will include flowers and pray paint on the canvas, hopefully those turn out how i picture them.

Kendall  had been begging to paint since she say me doing it so i gave her my "practice" canvas the bright colors of paint and let her go to town.

She loved it! She painted this all by herself. She went in the unpainted lines all by herself and then after a while the paint started all getting mixed together and turned a funky color and she didn't care about the lines anymore. It is quite the little masterpiece and i have no idea what to do with it. Any ideas?

I can't wait to start the new version of this that i came up with. But am holding off just a little longer.

Weekend part 2

The football team Jason used to play for and a team out of a different town decided to combine and make 1 team this year. Saturday night was their opening game and it was held at the UM Griz stadium, so we decided to go up with some friends and watch.

I don't really recall watching that much of the game plus we only stayed until halftime cause it was pretty chilly. Plus these 2 cuties were pretty entertaining while we were there. If they weren't running up and down the stair and climbing all over the bleachers i may have watched more of the game.

I am not really sure what exactly they were doing but they kept yelling "Ready, Set, Go ROARRRR"

They jumped and played forever until they got hungry and pretty cold.

I am definitely glad we stopped for some snacks and that i thought to bring the kindle in with me. It proved to be very helpful. They probably don't remember it, but their dads used to play together and the girls used to run around and play while we were at the games.

Doc McStuffins is a favorite of both of them and probably every other little girl who is 3.

It wasn't that super cold out but they were bundled up and holding hands under the blanket whenever they stopped snacking.

We love hanging out with PJ, her dad plays on our tournament teams for softball. So we will be getting to spend lots of time with them this summer and the girls entertain each other quite well.
