A journey through the wild ride of being a first time mother

You can read every book on the shelf about being a parent and what to expect with your new baby, but the only true preparation is experiencing it first hand.

I am having blog issues

I have been trying to write a post for a few days now. Blog spot is not working very well on my computer and as i type this, i am literally having to hold the buttons on the mouse so my cursor shows up. I don't know what the problem is but hopefully it resolves itself soon.

It's OK Thursday!!

Well its been a while since i have done one of these so here it goes.

It's OK

...that our house stuff still isn't moving forward its been 4 months since we originally turned the offer in.

....to be glad that softball is almost over. It has been a long season.

...to not love the temper tantrums Kendall has.

...to be shopping for Kendall's winter clothes already even though i am having no luck whatsoever finding anything for cold weather yet.

...to loading up my "shopping cart" full of items then changing my mind and not ordering any of it.

...to having a obsession with toddler Nike's, they are just so darn cute and you can get them on eBay.

...that i went to the library and borrowed some books, i love my kindle but i still like to read an actual book from time to time.

...to want to get another dog.

...that Kendall said her first swear word the other night (I wasn't home when it happened)

...to be excited to stay home ALL weekend long.

...to have very strong desire to cook up some yummy healthy food this weekend and maybe some brownies too.

...to be browsing some good online sales for my nephew who wont be here for well lets say 4 more months.

...to tell your child that its against the rules to not let mom brush your hair because it is a crazy mess and to bribe her to let you do it.

...to have not really worked out at all this week. I went on a walk and played some softball but haven't stepped foot in the gym since last week on Thursday.

That's what's OK with me this week, what's OK with you?

Team Salvo

I know it seems all i do is talk about softball. But it is (almost over) and a major part of our lives right now. We spend 4 days of the week at softball. Our team name is Team Salvo. We have a mens team and a co-ed team. Named after the bats that you see below. The guys on the team seem to have a slight obsession with them, there has since been 3 yellow Salvo's added to this. What can i say, they are great bats. I use one of them. Don't ask me why we need so many of the same thing. But once one of the guys had it 3 of the others needed to have one too and the same goes for the yellow bats too, once they saw someone else with it they needed to have it to.

2 weeks ago was the districts tournament for the league teams (league team meaning if you didn't sign that teams roster you couldn't play with them for this tournament). We had to add a few last minute people to our roster because of the location of the state tournament.

Not only did our mens team get 1st for the local mens league in Hamilton, they went on to win the Districts tournament, which is not easy. They played so well and ended the weekend undefeated guaranteeing them a spot at state which is this coming weekend. There is going to be some really good competition there and they are going to have to bring their "A" game.
The kids are a huge part of this team (as you can see in the pic) Kendall is around all these guys constantly and loves all of them and they all look out for her and keep her pretty well entertained (which is nice since i am always keeping score and need to pay attention to whats going on) when they aren't on the field. The little boy in back, Drextin, is her cousin and the little girl up front (next to K) Preslyn is one of her best buds, they play together so good and love running around the bases on the field together.

I am bummed i am not going to state, things were getting too complicated with the sleeping situations because they will not allow camping at the fields, so the guys are getting hotel rooms and it will be easier (and cheaper) for K and I to stay home.

Our co-ed team is doing really good. We will not be participating in Districts or State (as far as i know) we have 1 more game today and i believe we will finish out the season in 1st place as well.

For our first year running a team it was complicated because it was all so new to us. We did really well for a first year team, mostly because all the guys know each other and a lot of them have played football and softball together over the years. None of this would have been possible without our awesome sponsors: The Edge Restaurant, Custom Plumbing, Lightfoot Cycles, Kodiak Jax 2, Darby Wine and Spirits, Big Sky Rental, and Bitterroot Beanery. We appreciate everything they did for us and their donations helped us out a lot.

So good to have her home!

Kendall came home Saturday evening, and when i took her out of the car after 11 1/2 hours of driving she was squealing with delight and wouldn't let me put her down for at least an hour. It is a nice feeling to know she missed me.
My brothers girlfriend went with them and K loves her. It was also very helpful for my mom to have Sarah there to help with K on the long car ride. This day was when they found out what my sister was having and Kendall was definitely team blue hoping for a boy cousin.

It was their local fair and although they tried to get her to do a couple rides on her own she didn't want to. So Uncle Patrick went on all of them with her and they had so much fun.
You can very obviously tell that he is enjoying himself a lot too.

K loves tractors so she definitely enjoyed getting to ride in them and drive them several times while she was there.

Saturday after they got home and Sunday were a little rough. After her being away for the whole week trying to reestablish her routine and make her remember the rules we have at home made for a long couple of days with a couple of meltdowns and timeouts. But after a couple good nights of rest and going back to school she seems to be doing much better. She is still 2 so she still doesn't listen which at times can be very frustrating, but we are working on it and hopefully she will grow out of that (maybe).

To top it all off I woke up Sunday morning with a staph infection on my cheek (it feels like half of my face got hit by a truck). For some reason we are so prone to getting them and they just randomly show up. We are clean people, we bathe regularly, we wash the sheets a lot and have a clean house but the dang things just seem to pop up whenever they feel like it. If you have never had one be very glad, they are so painful and they don't go away on their own you have to get antibiotics. I always opt to not get a prescription pain medicine, ibuprofen works for me. I don't take it unless i absolutely need to (which isn't often) so when i need something to ease the pain i can get away with taking 2 and it really helps. So for the next 7 days i have to take antibiotics 4 times a day, things should start to clear up in the next couple days. If it doesn't then i have to go back next week for them to drain it which would really suck since it is on my face, it is already going to leave a scar on my face so i don't want it to be bigger then it has to be.

Happy Tuesday friends!

It hurts so good

Well the gym has been a major success this week. I am proud of myself to getting back down to the weight i was after the challenge. It took a lot of hard work and eating very healthy but I did it (in a week and a half, booyah). I plan to keep going and i still need to drop a few more pounds until i get to my goal weight.

Right now though my body is hating me. I was planning on skipping the gym Friday for a day of rest then going back Saturday for a hard workout in the morning before K gets home. But I am so sore today. I hit the gym hard the last 3 days putting in really good workouts, plus i played softball last night after i worked out. I can definitely feel it. I may or may not make it to the gym today. My body wants to rest but at the same my mind wants to keep pushing myself to get to where i want to be.

I am seeing such good results that i am still undecided about what i want to do. My Fitness Pal has been so handy and it definitely keeps me on track knowing i have to log in what i eat and i can see how many calories i am consuming.

On a completely different note. Kendall is having a blast at my sisters. Yesterday was their county fair and she got to go on lots and lots of rides with her Uncle Patrick and loved every minute of it. She is having so much fun but i miss the little monkey like crazy. This morning she called and left Grandpa a message that was the cutest thing i ever heard "Good morning Grandpa, I love you, have a good day." Almost made me cry, it was so sweet and precious. It made his day and he will never get rid of that message.

It has taken me some time to compile this post this morning so i think i have finally made up my mind and decided that going to the gym is still a good idea even though everything hurts, I will take it easy. When I get home i need to do laundry and clean out Kendall's dresser. It is long over due and there are so many clothes that are going to be too small come this winter so there is no need for them to be in there anymore, they are just taking up space.

Happy Thursday friends!
