A journey through the wild ride of being a first time mother

You can read every book on the shelf about being a parent and what to expect with your new baby, but the only true preparation is experiencing it first hand.

So good to have her home!

Kendall came home Saturday evening, and when i took her out of the car after 11 1/2 hours of driving she was squealing with delight and wouldn't let me put her down for at least an hour. It is a nice feeling to know she missed me.
My brothers girlfriend went with them and K loves her. It was also very helpful for my mom to have Sarah there to help with K on the long car ride. This day was when they found out what my sister was having and Kendall was definitely team blue hoping for a boy cousin.

It was their local fair and although they tried to get her to do a couple rides on her own she didn't want to. So Uncle Patrick went on all of them with her and they had so much fun.
You can very obviously tell that he is enjoying himself a lot too.

K loves tractors so she definitely enjoyed getting to ride in them and drive them several times while she was there.

Saturday after they got home and Sunday were a little rough. After her being away for the whole week trying to reestablish her routine and make her remember the rules we have at home made for a long couple of days with a couple of meltdowns and timeouts. But after a couple good nights of rest and going back to school she seems to be doing much better. She is still 2 so she still doesn't listen which at times can be very frustrating, but we are working on it and hopefully she will grow out of that (maybe).

To top it all off I woke up Sunday morning with a staph infection on my cheek (it feels like half of my face got hit by a truck). For some reason we are so prone to getting them and they just randomly show up. We are clean people, we bathe regularly, we wash the sheets a lot and have a clean house but the dang things just seem to pop up whenever they feel like it. If you have never had one be very glad, they are so painful and they don't go away on their own you have to get antibiotics. I always opt to not get a prescription pain medicine, ibuprofen works for me. I don't take it unless i absolutely need to (which isn't often) so when i need something to ease the pain i can get away with taking 2 and it really helps. So for the next 7 days i have to take antibiotics 4 times a day, things should start to clear up in the next couple days. If it doesn't then i have to go back next week for them to drain it which would really suck since it is on my face, it is already going to leave a scar on my face so i don't want it to be bigger then it has to be.

Happy Tuesday friends!

  2. I had no idea you blogged until I saw it in Nicole's comments. I think you tried to comment on one of my posts but i couldn't reply because you're a no reply blogger which means your email is hidden so when you leave comments for people they can't reply. :(( I can help you fix that if you want. I think Miss k is adorable and I can't believe how big she is!! I'm so excited for Bicole to have her baby, she and Patrick and going to be great parents. :)
